The Power of Social Media in Enhancing Talent Acquisition in Pakistan’s Health Sector

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of social media in hiring the right talent in health industry in Pakistan. With digital hiring on the rise, hirers are exploring LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram to shortlist candidates. This study seeks to explore the success, challenges and tactical application of Social Media for recruitment. Based on primary data by survey and semi-structured interviews, social media brought unique benefits such as wider reach; quality candidates were attracted; employer branding was enabled and it is cost effective. These also highlight issues like lack of digital literacy, privacy issues and infrequent use of platform for senior-level positions. Social media is identified by the study as a strong relationship of talent acquisition and recommendations from the healthcare sector are made on how social media can be utilized effectively. So, these can be implied to be a prospective instrument to make decisions of strategy for recruitment being in a resource-starved setting such as this one in Pakistan.
