Abstract

The research was conducted to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the academic performance of students in the field of Library and Information Science. As countries globally implement lockdowns, traditional teaching is being replaced by online learning. The scope of the study was limited to two areas: 1) only those students were selected who were enrolled and studied from 2019 to 2022; 2) only Library and Information Science students of Pakistani Universities. The data was collected from February to April in 2024. A quantitative survey research method was employed, utilizing convenience sampling. The data was gathered via social media platforms, a Google Form designed to access the participants, which contained twenty-eight items, and a 5-point Likert scale was used. A total of 228 responses were received and analyzed with SPSS. Descriptive analysis was conducted using demographic data, while item analysis was executed using linear regression to analyze the relationship between the variables. The results reveal that 50.5% of respondents agree that online education has had a significant impact on their academic success. The study concluded that online education had a significant impact on the academic success of LIS students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
